Reflection
Rhetoric has been considered to be one of the general education classes that some might see as important, which it is to an extent. I however, go along the lines of thinking it’s not as important as the portray it to be. Although it has helped me a lot on improving my writing I don’t believe it would be very beneficial to my major. It might be really helpful for those english majors or any other type of major that requires a whole lot of writing and analyzing.
Like I have explained before I do not believe that this class is very beneficial to me because it doesn’t really help me with my major at all. I am a Spanish major to begin with, we don’t do a lot of writing like this. We focus more on learning how to write and speak in Spanish. I am also trying to get into the business school and get into accounting. That is mostly a lot of math and I don’t understand how that has any connections to rhetoric. I feel as if I am taking a class that isn’t even going to help me out in the long run and that I am wasting a lot of my time when I could be focusing on classes that will actually help me out and that way I can graduate in time.
If they think that these general education courses are so beneficial, I think they should try to incorporate them into the classes that are for our majors so that way we can see how they are actually helping us or give us what we need from it for our major and that way you don’t have another class piled up on our schedule.
Overall, it would be better to just incorporate the general education courses into the ones that are going towards our majors so that way if it’s not needed in our major we would not waste our time taking them.
