Introduction:
Racial discrimination hasn't been seen as big of a deal compared to back in the day. People are often treated differently because of their nationalities for ages, in places such as work, school or even a simple grocery store. This report is to see if there is any racial discrimination happening here on the University of Iowa's campus. A way to find out if it is occurring or not is to survey students anonymously so that they are not afraid to speak up and answer truthfully. Things are obviously different compared to how they were back in the day. Almost everyone one treats each other equally now with the exception of a few and this report is to see if it happens on campus.
Methods:
Participants
This report is focused more on a college campus, the University of Iowa to be exact. The participants are U of I students from any age. There are about 30 research subjects for this particular report to get a decent amount of data to prove some points. Some of these participants were from my rhetoric class and the rest are friends that attend the Uof I as well.
Procedures
To get my information I created a 7 question survey with a few basic questions like what race a person was and if they were a male or female. The survey also contained questions that asked about on campus experiences as well.
Data Analysis
It is necessary to have a good amount of participants when analyzing data to be able to tell if there is more of a difference between them when you begin to put them into graphs and charts. It is important to note that not everyone will have many experiences with some of these encounters so that might be difficult for them to answer some of those questions.
Something I would recommend adding to the introduction would be just to include information on the research questions as well as what a gap could be. I would recommend something along the lines of when the research studies you've found on the side vs when you've collected your information. That would be one major gap depending on when the time frames are.
ReplyDeleteFor the methods section, I would recommend using more information in the procedures section as far as the questions. Adding the survey questions would show what exactly you are asking and what the information could be showing in the end. Adding those few things would make the section a lot longer as well.
In the data analysis section, I'm not sure if it's not finished yet or if you just didn't plan on adding the charts. However, I feel as though you definitely should have some charts showing the data that you've collected. Doing so will show exactly what you're trying to explain in the rest of the paper.
In the introduction section, I recommend adding more details on why the topic is important and why you are conducting research. This gives the reader a better background on what they are reading, and makes it more interesting.
ReplyDeleteMethods section is good, just add the questions you are asking in your survey as well as adding that it is an online survey.
What you also can think about is adding a gap in the research you conducted. It can be a gap in the years of the findings you had, or even a gap in how/who research was conducted on. Also add how the data was analyzed in your Data Analysis section, for example: graphs, tables, etc.
